SUBJECT: For 2 single-parents it went to fast for child & dad - How do we re-tread our steps? Please help!!!
I met this wonderful guy a few months ago. He was recently separated (only by a couple of months) with a 13 year old daughter. At first it was wonderful, but we obviously involved the kids much too early, we were at his house every weekend. Alhtough his daughter was gone alternate weekends. At the same time, her mother informed her that she was moving out of state with her boyfriend. The daughter told her father she didn't want him dating. That she hated my 13 year old son. We decided to take it slow. I had gotten the impression, that he is still hurt of his ex leaving, so he has some healing time as well. While At this time I am trying to see him every other week while the mother is still in town, I don't know how to go about this? Do we continue to try to build our own relationship first, and keep our children separate? I imagine he should continue to work with his daughter, and spend quality time with her. Is it a matter of time, or how do we know when she is ready? I am so confused! Please give me your insight.
