SUBJECT: 5 Year Old "In Trouble" at school
My 5-year-old is a follower. He is sneaky if other kids are sneaky. He is loud if other kids are loud. He is disrespectful when other kids are.......etc. Today I was spoken to by his teacher (about his behavior....along with the 7 other wild boys in his class). What is the best way to deal with this? Getting angry puts him on the defense. Telling his father will only get him into more trouble & his father is already to strict with him (chores before hugs after returning from a weekend away, etc....). Any suggestions? He is starting to be a bit disagreeable (saying "No" and pulling away if tell him to do something). I don't like spanking because it sends the wrong message. We do wack him on the butt for shock value (I don't even like to do this unless he has run into the street), but I'm afraid that it will get harder and harder (with my husband) until it is to hard in order to keep making a difference. Anybody have suggestions?
