Believe me, I am in the same boat. And if I didn't have such a bossy husband, my sons would be attending a private school. He insists that they go to public. My 5 year old (1st child) is in preschool (same public school he will be attending this August until sixth grade). He is just starting to read (on his own & with help from home). At school, he is now the one who acts out. Artwork is more like an instruction following activity and learning letters/numbers is extremely rare. He isn't the leader of the acting out, but he does follow and doesn't stop immediately when confronted by the teacher. He is now beginning to be defiant & disrespectful at home, despite his intelligence and his loving nature. I don't know what to do either.
