AUTHOR: dennlarry | | | Hello, it's me again! I have been getting many e-mails regarding PCOS, Metformin and how my pregnancy went. It is now 1 year and 3 months since I made my first post, so I decided I would update. My pregnancy wasn't so good. I was very sick and developed gestational diabetes..which I was told is common with PCOS due to the insulin resistance. We tried to contol it with diet, but I ended up on insulin shots. My son was also born a month early and ended up in the ICU with underdeveloped lungs. He spent 9 days there with his first 3 days being sedated on Morphine because he was so fragile...although he was our 8 lb preemie!
It is now the middle of January 2004...he is 9 months old now and doing wonderfully. He is 19 lbs and beautiful. He is starting to crawl and trying to walk. He is a very healthy little guy, although very stubborn.
I have gone back to my normal self before pregnancy with the PCOS symptoms...missed periods, weight gain, etc. I am working really hard to lose the weight because the chance of developing diabetes later on is greater since having gestational.
No more babies for me though. I have my girl and now my boy, but I would love to hear from any of you who have questions or concerns regarding PCOS. Just remember, keep your head up. It took me 8 years to get pregnant. Just when I had truly lost all hope, my sunshine came along and lightened up my life.
