didnt no i misscarriaged till 3 weeks later

i had found out i had a misscarriage on the first of this month the doctor did an ultrasound on me to confirm that i did the doctor asked how far along i was i told him i was 9 weeks he said that he could see the fetus inside the womb still but he said he couldnt find the heart beat and he told me it was 6 weeks it really scared me because i didnt no that i lost it till 3 weeks later how am i going to no next time if anyone has been through this before? please write to me i have never been pregnant before this was my first time and i'd like someone to talk to about this.
