SUBJECT: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or Stubborn and Particular?
My 2 1/2 year old daughter has some behaviors that worry me. She has to line up everything from her chicken nuggets to her dolls. When the dolls will not line up because they are diferent sizes she gets upset. She lines up their heads and then their feet are not so she lines up the feet and then their heads are not. You get the idea. When she gets to eat in front of the TV she has to sit in a particular square on our area rug. If I encourage her to move, she will not have it! If I make her she will throw a massive tantrum. She is a very stubborn and spirited child so it is hard to tell if she is simply upset because it was not her idea. When things do not go her way she can not handle it. For a long time I simply thought it was typical 2 year old trials, but I am pretty strict and have boundaries so it is not as if she is spoiled. One of my friends was diagnosed with OCD and she is the one who mentioned it to me. I am not sure what to do next. She is not excessice about hand washing or any other of the common signs, but maybe she has a mild case and only the sense of order affects her. Any insights?????
