I know that is is "those teen years" and everyone goes through most of these things...but there is more violence on tv,movies,video games,and even though violence HAS been around forever it is communicated more and more. I hate the way Hollywood turns the criminal into the "good guy" (seen Gone in 60 Seconds?). How about the violence in Bad Boys 1 and 2? Would you like those kind of police chases in your city or community??!! Anyway, my son wants to start collecting SWORDS! Those knights of the round table, Lord of the Ring swords, and we argue about these things everyday! My son was "diagnosed" by school caseworkers here in Florida with ADD back when he wa 8yrs. old. He was on low dosages of Ritalin until about 3 years ago,along with counseling with a Psyc. He barely ever talked to his doctor. he would say "it's none of there business how I feel or what I think"...ANYONE TAKE A CHILD FOR COUNSELING AND NEVER SAY ANYTHING??? I always took him off the meds for the summer and weekends since I was told it was "only taken for school work". Now since he started 9th grade he does not take the time-released concerta (20mg) anymore. His grades remain at almost a 4.0, but there are days I could just throttle him or smack him in the mouth. He is very antsy to learn how to drive and get a job...and I tell him that he has to be very POLITE and CONSIDERATE in any workplace...His doctor says that eventually he would have to STOP taking the meds and LEARN to control his behavior (which he has been doing all along with beh. modification,works/doesn't work all the time). He is 5'5" and weighs about 95lbs. He also has been picked on at school because he is one the small side,ect. I also had his checked for depresstion and the doctor even tried him on some different meds. but he did feel or act and differently. Anyone out there relate to this DAYS IN MY LIFE? When every other word out of his mouth is da--this, f--- that,whocares, why,why not?,whatever, don't you listen to me mom! | |  | |
