SUBJECT: Zantac helps, but she is still crying . .
My daughter has been on Zantac for a week for silent reflux. We have seen improvement, but she is still often crying when she is supposed to be sleeping! Her pediatrician says she is at the highest dose for her weight, so increasing is not an option. She said to give it another week, then she would switch her to a different medicine.

My question:
I want to be sure that the remaining crying really IS due to reflux. Is there a way to tell? Other possibilities could be colic (one dr suggested this), formula digestion issues (she is on Lactose Free), and just having more of a propensity for crying than my first child. I would hate to give her a stronger medicine if she didn't need it. Also, don't the stronger medicines take about 2 weeks to kick in? What do you for those 2 weeks, as I assume you do not continue on Zantac during that time?
Thank you!
