SUBJECT: 6 month old and sleeping schedules as per Weissbluth
I have 3 children; 7, 4 and 6 months. My 6 month old used to be a good sleeper but in the past month everything has fallen apart. I just finished reading Dr. Weissbluth's book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". It all makes sense in a perfect world but I have to get my other children to and from school etc and that interfears with baby's naps etc. More importantly is night time...baby will wake up every 2 hours and will feed if I let her. She will not take a bottle so she is still nursed. Weissbluth says children between 4-9 months may get up 2x at night for feeding but how can I tell if that is really what she wants or if she has just woken up and can't get herself back to sleep? If I do respond to her by feeding...I let her nurse, burp and then put her right back in her crib..no cuddles or playtime but sometimes she'll cry it out for 2 hours. I'm desperate to get some type of schedule in all of our lives. Any suggestions from anyone who has used and believed in Weissbluth's theory. Signed frustrated in Ontario.
