SUBJECT: Weissbluth 8 mo old short naps
I've been following Weissbluth and my 8 mo. old is sleeping about 13 hours at night. Trouble is short naps. I know this happens around this age but need some advice on how to handle it until it passes. Up about 7 am. First nap at 9 until about 9:50 or 10. I leave her until at least 10:30 - no crying just playing and definitely not sleeping.

Second nap 1:00 to 2:00 if I'm lucky. Leave her at least 30 minutes - same as morning.

Once in a while I am able to get her back to sleep but rocking, pacing, etc. but I don't want to start a bad habit. When the 2nd nap is short, she gets really cranky by bedtime (6 pm) and she will not take a 3rd nap.
