SUBJECT: Son was tested as having ADHD and ODD
I have a 6 year old son that I just had tested and they said he has ADHD and ODD. I wasn't sure if the first place if I should of had him tested or not. Because he could be fine one day and not the next. But he is having difficulties in school with thing. But at home I can do the same things and he can do them sometimes and sometimes not. His dad is giving him a very hard time. I have an appointement with his doctor to do the follow up on the testing. My mother and mother in law keep telling me don't let them put him on anything. They have bad side affects even if you don't see it now they do in the long run. Is this true? I have talked with his teach and others at his school as I help with the special needs children when needed. They all say as long as you talk with the doctor and go by her they have seen many on different drugs with great results. I feel if it will help him in school I should do it but at the same time I do not want nothing to hurt him in the long run either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
