There could be a lot of differences between you and your husband and your friends. Maybe they aren't the parenting type. Some couples don't ever have children, and by choice... they just don't want the responsibility and don't see it as a joy or necessity in their lives. And sometimes they are more career oriented... different things matter more to different people. Did your friends plan for their pregnancy? I can say with all confidence that my husband and I did not plan for our first, but we have absolutely no regrets. It's amazingly hard work and amazingly worth it, if you want to have children. If you are at a point in your life where you think you can give more of yourself than you will get back, and you are ready to commit to something for the rest of your life, then by all means, have a baby. It is a personal decision though. There are pre pregnancy classes and planned parenthood classes you can go to to better prepare yourselves as well. You can also go to a therapist too. I highly recommend that. Just as some people like to go to counseling before they get married.. you can go before you have a baby. Maybe another person looking from the outside can help you to better resolve your worries and help you determine if parenthood is the right thing for you and whether or not right now is the time.
