SUBJECT: Hi, I'm new here
I spent a lot of time reading through all the toilet training posts, and I'm so glad I did. I thought I was the only one with a 4 1/2 year old (boy) that WILL NOT poop on the potty. My story is similar to many I've read: he's been using the potty to pee with no trouble since he turned 3, but will only use a pull-up to poop in. He will only poop at home, so sending him to preschool has never been a problem. I expect to send him to kindergarten in the fall, but I wonder if he'll ever use the toilet like the rest of the world. Whenever we have "forced" the issue, he's withheld pooping, and that has caused quite a lot of physical problems in the past. I've resigned myself to the fact that he will have to overcome whatever fear he has of the toilet by himself, but sometimes I do feel like a failure as a parent. Anyway, thanks for the support.
