SUBJECT: Seeing single father of 2- has full custody of son & fighting for partial custody of daughter
I am seeing a single father of two. His son is four and daughter is one...two different mothers. He has full custody of his son and is fighting for partial custody of his daughter. I would have never ever pictured myself in such a relationship with a single father and all the baggage surrounding the situation, but it almost seems normal now...except that I haven't bonded with his son yet because i was trying to protect myself as well as his son, not knowing where the relationship was going at first.

Now I feel very intimidated about becoming a motherly figure and am not sure how to bond with his son. He is an incredible father and has a wonderful bond with his son...i just feel like an outsider when we're all together because i've already missed the first four years of his son's life. I just never pictured becoming a mother this way and haven't spent much time with children. I want to take the relationship to another level and spend some time alone with his son to get to know him better. Should I offer to babysit? What's the next step?

I am also wondering what sort of issues will arrise with the biological mothers. The mother of the son never wanted a baby and is not allowed to visit without supervision and the mother of the daughter does not want him to see his daughter at all. What the heck should I expect? Any advice welcome!
