AUTHOR: Mommy Monster
finally a chance to hear from others whose babies and parents are going through what we are!! my 1 and 1/2 month old baby girl chyan had been crying or should I say SCREAMING after she eats and hardly slept at all. I ended up taking her to the emergency room because she kept throwing up everything that she ate: it just would not stop!! NOTHING would work. In the emergency room my poor little girl had to subjected to a bunch of crappy test only to have them tell me that she had meningitis....I was so scared! They tranferred me to another hospital and it was there (after being in the hospital for four days) that she did not have meningitis she has reflux. I have to say I was relieved to hear that yet ready to go out of my mind with the crying and screaming. they first gave her metoclopram and told me to thicken her formula with rice cereal. the rice cereal helps but the medicine keeps her awake. it makes her very restless so she gets even more grumpy because she cannot relax...now they gave her zantac and I am supposed to give 0.8 ml once a day and it see it work for awhile but it wears off so she is grumpy again....now she has an ear infection in both ears....allergies so she not only has to take zantac but benedryl and amoxil and i am supposed to give her the metoclopram in between!! my poor little girl has a damn drug store in our kitchen!! sitting up helps but she rolls off the pillow while sleeping (she does sleep with me because she does not stay asleep in the crib for longer than one hour at a time) I have found that she stays asleep alot longer in the swing. she does not scream as much as she did before taking the zantac but when she spits up or i should say projectiles her formula it really scares her because she chokes on it and comes out of her nose...she cries and cries. she hates it and i hate that she it going through this!! i am almost ready to just feed her solids hoping that will help but I really don't want to do that!! I can't hold her upright all night long! has any one tried that sling that goes into the crib to keep the baby elevated? Or what about the baby hammock? I know that they are way to expensive but if it will make my little girl more comfortable i will try it! i tried that alimentum stuff and she just will not drink it...she does not like the taste of it...should i try and see if giving chyan zantac twice a day will work better for her or ask the doctor to give her something else...i just hate all this medication!! and does the mylicon drops really help because my baby is really gassy.
