SUBJECT: The slack of the school system defines a true caring parent
IN REPLY TO: Need to get my 1st grader out of horrible environment
AUTHOR: oliversmom
My daughter started at a horrible school the funny thing is that I had no idea at first. I was blind.. It was the elementary school I had gone to when I was younger and there were still staff members I remembered. The Kindergarten teacher was great.. But thats when it started none the less. I helped out in the class twice a week. Attended every feild trip ect. While being a single mother of 2 at the time. Working to support a household. But my childrens childlife ment the world to me so I made time. Worked early evening hours. Home in time to cook dinner. There great may I say "GREAT"- grandmother watched them for me after school for a while..And yet the school had the nerve to call the police on our house hold because my daughter missed 12 days of school cause her grandmother not her (great) but my mother died we all were very close we lived with one another we had gone trough divorces together practically the same month.. I had even called and informed the school of the situation. We did get over that though. Them saying it was required by the school board. While the Kinder teacher was saying the principal had a thing with the tax credit = the school gets paid for every child in there seat everyday... Well the following year. Me and the girls had moved but there was only 3months left in that school year... The principal found out and immedatley said my child was going to be dropped and she needed to register in her school district by the end of the week. We had only moved 3 city blocks away mind you. My daughter was devistated she had her freinds and all the changes going on in her life from her nana dying and moving from a place she loved. Well I went in to speak with the principal to ask him if she could just finish out the school year explaining all the trama she had gone through in the last year stressing that her changing schools would just be one more and perhaps her breaking point and you know what he told me. ONE CHILD DIDN'T MATTER IN THE SCHEME OF THINGS. And that he had to look at all the other children in the school with over crowed class rooms and that it wasn't fare to them.. I was horrified.. I just got up and left the next day I went down to 1010 which is the city I live in's head of all schools in our district. and they told me how to give gardianship to my daughters Great grandma for she lived still in that district, just till school was out. S0 she could finish out school year there. And Guess what I did it, just to show that NO good principal just how much my daughter really ment.
And the moral of the story my duagher the next year transfered school and it is so extraordinary!!!! Its a prep for magnet school which is where there destined to go for middle school cause of our district the teacher and principal are awesome and were so happy for the move.. I guess what I'm telling you is there are other public schools out there and some are so great just try another there is so many different ways to get into them besides the boarder of neighborhoods and Change can be so great....:)Good luck Ariesmom3
