You know, you could go back to bible school and learn a few things. "Spare the rod spoil the child" has been taken out of context for years. And I personally am so tired of hearing that as an excuse to spank children. First, the rod represents the staff used by shepherds, do you see shepherds going around wacking the sheep? NO! You see them use the rod gently to guide the sheep in the direction they need to go in. So to put it plainly: You as the parent are to teach your children the appropriate behavior by guidance. It doesn't say anything about hitting. I am not a "wacky no spanker" as you put it, I am a parent who cherishes my child way too much to inflict pain on him. He is a child of God and should be treated as such. No he is not perfect and I would pay money to see a child who is. Yes he throws tantrums, show me a 3 yr old that doesn't. This is a part of the growing up process and a phase he has yet to complete. I will handle it without spanking and show him that I love him the entire time. I'm not saying that you don't love your children. You do what you see fit when it comes to disciplinig your children. However, the next time you want to preach do a little research first and keep your nasty comments to yourself (you never know someone bigger than you might disagree with your behavior and decide you need a spanking).
