SUBJECT: Incompetent Cervix, Cerclage
At 22W, I went for a scheduled sonogram only to find out that my cervix was open. I was sent to the hospital immediately. My doctor explained that I had an incompetent cervix. The next day I was brought to the OR and luckly I had enough cervix and my Dr. was able to stitch it up by performing a cerclage. I have two stiches. My Dr. says that I may not be able to carry full term. The baby is ok and they were able to save my pregnancy I have been placed on strict bedrest until further notice. I am now 27W. The baby is still ok, but I feel pressure at times on my lower abdomen and discomfort inside my vagina. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, were you able to carry full term?
