SUBJECT: Transitioning from family bed to crib
My son is 14 weeks old, and my husband and I would like to get him out of our bed and sleeping in his crib at night. This is our first child, and we've been having difficuly, because my son has reflux and loves to be held as much as possible. I've been trying to get him to sit, lay and play out of my arms as much as possible, and lay him in his crib when he is awake so he is used to the surroundings. We would like to start this week, and get him transitioned as quickly as possible, since my husband is off work over the holidays. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions that worked for them. I would prefer not to let him CIO, but am willing to hear any suggestions at this time. He has been sleeping well at night in our bed (he only gets up around 2AM and 5AM for feedings, then usually gets up around 7AM for the day. He's been going to bed around 9PM, but we've been trying to get him in bed around 7:30PM, since the few times he did go early, he seemed to sleep better through the night. I have heard many people say it is better to get babies to sleep in their crib as soon as possible, as it only gets harder as they get older, so I would appreciate any suggestions or ideas you may have. Thanks!
