SUBJECT: Please Help!!!
Hello everyone! I am new to this site and would like some input from other daycare providers. I have an infant that I watch on a part time basis. This child has been in my care from the time he was 6 wks old. He is now 10 months old. From the beginning this child has been "whiney", but it seems to be the "I'm in pain" whiney. I have asked his parents on numerous occassions if anything was wrong with him, teething, tummy aches, etc, and they always tell me he is fine, the doctor says he's ok, or whatever "excuse" they might give me. 90% or more of the time this child comes into my home with a diaper so wet it almost leaks through, and actually has on several occassions. His father has brought the child in while he was so intoxicated he could barely stand up, let alone carry the child. Tonight the child came in and I started his normal routine, change the diaper and feeding so he can go to sleep. (He is a night child). The child started to scream and I took the bottle out of his mouth, and when I did, there was blood on the bottle coming out of his mouth. I then looked at his blanket and noticed dried blood there as well. How should I approach this situation when I bring it up to the parents? (His father drops him off and his mother picks him up) And which one of the parents should I talk to? I am having other problems with the father, such as my vacation time, (he says I am being inconsiderate for taking vacation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as my nerves are very unsettled. Thank you guys so much for reading my long post!!!
