WoW Hot Topic I see,
My advice with all these messages as with life
take the good and forget the bad,
I applaude you for nursing, In this society people tend to think baby then bottle,
The breast is important for antibodies, I read that a 1yr old baby has only 60% of an adults immunity, so thats proof the breast milk is still needed after the first year, not just for nutrion.
Ya want proof,Look how often breast fed babies get sick compared to bottle fed. My daughter is 12 months and never been sick (Thank God), Unfortunetly my friends with bottled fed babies have been sick many times. Every time they tell me their child is sick im reassured Ive done the right thing. I also read from books as well as expierienced moms that breastfeeding meets a childs emotional needs, and when a child's emotional needs are met they grow up secure.
I have only read from mothers who breast fed for a yr or longer that their children excel in so many ways. I have one friend who also breast feeds her children up to age three, her oldest is a very confident, strong beautiful teen ager, and I can only pray for my daughter to turn out so well. Personaly I am a muslim and the Quran states "the term for those who wish to do so is two years", so that is my goal. First meet your childs needs(not wants) than your needs as well, and if you feel the need is gone for your child to continue breast feeding (every child is different)than its time to start weaning her off,
Try rocking, rubbing the belly or back etc in place of the breast, and I guess at three you can try making her understand shes a big girl now ect.
I wish you luck, I myself am perplexed on how its gonna go for us as well when the time comes.
Feel free to write me anytime, Mehenni@earthlink.net
