SUBJECT: OMGosh, sleep problems, crying, gas...... you name it HELP!
I'm a new great-grandmother doing the 'stand-in' while my granddaughter recovers from birth complications. I am exhausted and about to fall on my face. I need help badly!!

Kaleb is 1 month old and a couple weeks ago I flew back east to help his single mother after serious bleeding problems. I stayed a week and soon realized this baby is so uncomfortable. He seems to want to eat all the time. He's hard to burp and sleeps only 1-2 hours at a time. (if I'm lucky)

STATS:

Formula is Prosobee (lipil) and he eats 6 ounces at a time. He's eating about 6 or 7 times a day. I think this sounds like a lot of formula for an 11 lb baby but the doctor isn't concerned. I try to burp him after each 2 ounces. The first burp is fine. The next 2 times I try to burp him I feel like I'm beating him up without result. I rub, pat, jiggle, slightly bounce and beg him to burp. Nothing :((

Baby bottles are Aire Vent. He feeds fine but is very gassy. We give him simethicone drops and Tylenol infant drops for pain.

Sleep? What's that? He rarely sleeps more than 1-2 hours at a time, and that sleep is disturbed by flailing arms and gasping. Yes, I sleep him on his back. I also use his carseat as a bed. He seems to sleep a little longer in it.

Doctor doesn't want to make any changes at this time. Which is a good thing since we're not near him anymore. My granddaughter's recovery is going to be 4-6 more weeks so I had to go and get her and the baby and fly them to California so I can care for both of them.

I'm not REAL old but my body is quickly feeling the necessity to find sleep. If anyone has 'natural' ways to calm his tummy and his crying please let me know.

Or, if ya live in northern CA and wanna babysit just hollar........ I'll come get ya!!!!! (jokin)

Puhleeeeeeeeeeze, someone help me. I feel so sorry for the little guy. I want to help all I can but I don't believe (nor does my granddaughter or her doctor) in lots of medicines or changing his formula often since he is on good stuff now.
