| Hi, Shannon. I had a blighted ovum too. Went for my first doctors visit and she basically told me there was nothing in there and I was going to miscarry. I got a second opinion and it was confirmed. I had a D&C on 11/19 and had no idea what to expect. I didn't bleed either after my D&C until about day 4 then I bled alot on Day 4, then it trickled off. Then (geez, it seemed every Monday) about another 7 days after this, I started to pass some clots. I luckly had a Dr.s appt. the next day and she told me I had a bit left in my uterus. Well, the next Monday, I passed the remainder in the uterus and now I'm just hanging tight for my period.
I was really disappointed since my doctor did not go into detail about what a blighted ovum was. I had to find out from the technition and from a friend who had the same thing. Unfortunately, as well, my husband and I hopped on the internet right away when I was told I was going to have a miscarriage and tried to do as much research as possible about our situation. Come to find out it's about 30-90% common in most first pregnancies (got the info. off of this site!). I also had no idea what to expect from my D&C. I can tell you that this site has helped me a ton with recovery.
My friend that had the blighted ovum now has 2 grown kids. She had the blighted ovum before she even had them. I've also had a great support system and it's amazing how many people have had miscarriages. Not to worry, it will happen for us...all in good time. Best wishes and hope to hear back!
