SUBJECT: discipline for infants?
I am a first time mom and my son is 11 mths old. Like most first time moms, I wish there were a book on how to raise a child but of course there is not one. Can you tell me when to start disciplining a child. I do not mean spanking but if my son constantly tries putting his finger in a light socket at what age will he understand no or a swat on the hand. I have always been told that if you do this then the infant will only learn to hit. Is this true? I do know I am suppose to distract him with other toys or activities but when can I begin "teaching" or "disciplining" him. Do not get me wrong, I do not believe in spanking unless it is the last resort but I want to know the correct way to discipline an infant.
