| First let me say how sorry I am to hear of your loss. There are many of us here who can relate to your constantly changing emotions right now.
Most Obs will ask you to have one regular period before you start trying. This is regardless of whether or not you m/c naturally, or by D&C. There are many justifiable reasons for this. You really do need time to grieve this loss. You may think you're ok and moving on, but the reality of what happened will come back and slap you when you least expect it. I know every woman grieves differently, but it really is helpful in that respect to wait the 1 period. It probably doesn't seem like it now, but I bet most of the ladies on this page would agree with me on this. Believe me, I know it can SEEM like a lifetime, but honestly, when you get your 1st period, its like the time flew by.
Also, after a m/c, you have no idea when or if you'll ovulate right away. You cannot look at the m/c as a period and estimate ovulation from there.Unfortunately, it just doesn't work that way. If you ovulate at all before your 1st period, it'll be spontaneous and happen whenever it wants to! You may be setting yourself up for a big disapointment if you think you should start trying on Thursday, because its unlikely that you'll know if and when you are fertile immediately following a m/c.
That last point brings me to the most important reason. IF you ovulate and get pregnant before your next period you will have no "last menstrual period" date to give your OB. You CANNOT give the date of m/c to date this pregnancy. A LMP date will be able to give your OB an estimate of when you concieved. This date is so important, especially after a m/c so you don't have to worry yourself sick wondering if the baby should have a heartbeat or not by a certain point. That will scare the crap out of you if you believe you're x amount of weeks pregnant but you're really not. Having that date of LMP is sooo important for your own peace of mind!
I hope some of this info helps a bit. Alot of this is what my OB told me during and after my m/c in October.
