SUBJECT: I'm pretty sure it's ADD, now what?
My daughter is really struggling at scholl and with home work...teachers say she's very inteeligent "when" she does her work, but most of the time "zones out" into lala land......At home, she sometimes takes 4hours to do homework, that I can see only needs 30-60 mins. I watch her and she starts day dreaming or playing with her pencil...if the littlest sound occurs she loses all focus on what she is doing....teachers think there is a problem, I do, and now I don't know the next step...she's 10y/o in 4th grade.
She asked me the other night "Mommy am I dumb", ....this is breaking my heart...of course I told her that she was very bright, I just think we need some help. I get so frustrated with the time she day dreams and la-li gags, then I feel guilty for getting upset...so if you can give me any advice as to what to do, I'd be thank ful. Someone mentioned a Neurologist...is that my next step? Please help me out....this year she is having the NJ ASK test in school, which is all the school is really concerned about....I hope I can get her help so that she can get through this and future school work, I want to get her help , just don't know where I start. She also has problems falling a sleep at night, forgetfulness....anyone with ideas?
Thank you in advance...I can be reached at dawnonly@aol.com
