SUBJECT: 17 month old climbs out of crib!!! Any suggestions??
About 3 weeks ago my 17 month old figured how to climb out of his crib and now will NOT stay in it!!!!!! He seems to have mastered his escape route and is getting faster and faster at it. I can't even get out of the room before he gets out. The sliding side is all the way up and the mattress is down as far as it will go. What should I do? Now he wants to sleep with mommy and daddy and he squirms!!! We have been letting him fall asleep with us then put him in there, but I know that can't be good to let him get used to falling asleep with us. I thought about shutting the door to his room but I don't think it's right to lock him in there and even if I did when he finally got tired (after hours of screaming probably) he would have to fall asleep on the floor because he wouldn't be able to get back into the crib. I thought about buying a toddler bed but if he won't stay in the crib why is he going to stay there??? Any suggestions?
