 | my son was 8 weeks premature so when he was 4 months old he was a little behind, but that should give you a broader range for your averages.
At 4 mos. Aidan still had colic, if you don't know what that is you should look it up, because alot of babies get it. He was not sleeping through the night yet, still waking up for that 3-4 am bottle. I was feeding him 6 ounces of formula (Similac) about 6-7 times a day. He had not started on rice cereal yet, but my pediatrician told me to go ahead and put some in his bottles to thicken his feeds. What this means is: when a baby has reflux, they spit up almost every time they eat anything. Precious nutrients were going to waste, not to mention that the digestive tract and esophogas were getting slightly hurt. So my dr. told me to thicken his feeds to weigh down the food in his stomach making it harder to come up.. this is only recommended to reflux babies and should only be attempted under a docs supervision. He was learning to sit upright at that time, but was still a bit wobbly, we had to pay special attention to his head. We also played with him daily and gave hime "tummy time". Since babies are supposed to sleep on their backs, tummy time enables them to get exercize and strengthen the muscles needed for crawling. This is all I can think of right now, if I come up with more I will let you know. LEt me know more questions if you have them. Good luck. |
