I have a 10 year old 5th grader, who is having 'behavior problems' at school also. She is a good child but she likes doing what she wants to do, if she needs to sharpen her pencil, or get a drink of water she will do so whenever without permission, she also gets in trouble for talking. We have also tried everything from spanking to loss of her privileges and nothing has worked. The things she is doing in school are not really bad but disruptive and disrespectful. My husband and I have decided that we are going to try ignoring this unwanted behavior, no punishments just a "try not to do it again". I am really beginning to think it is a attention getter for her. We will keep you posted on out results.
