SUBJECT: 5 year old with separation anxiety?
My son will be 5 in two days. This afternoon I reminded him he has a Pre-K religion class. He immediately burst in to tears crying "I don't want to go". He does this every week. I explain to him that since God gives him life every day, it doesn't hurt to take an hour a week to learn a little bit about him. A short time later I was on the phone with a co-worker and he came in crying again that he didn't want to go. I told him we can talk about it when I'm off the phone and he pulled the wire out of the wall.

Yesterday, our neighbor's son (who goes to the same preschool) was sick and stayed home from school. My son cried all the way that he didn't want to go if his friend wasn't going.

I am at my wits end. No matter we do, or where we go, he is GLUED to my leg. How can I help him learn independence?
