SUBJECT: 6 year old has started to poop on himself
My daughter has temporary custody of her 6 year old grandson. He was being neglected and abused and his mother asked that we take him until she "gets herself together. We are on his fathers side of family. Initially he had very bad tantrums and screamed for his mom and sister for hours. He is having a hard time in school and does not recognize all of his alphabets but he is good in math.Therapist was seen once and told my daughter that the child had been through a lot and just needed love and care. My daughter has so much patience with him but she is about to lose it. Every day he has a bowel movement on himself and lets it dry up without saying a word. It almost seems like he does it on purpose. He doesn't seem to get embaraased and all the talking and comfort we try to give him just doesn't work. Today it happened on the school bus but fortunately the other kids didn't know it. We are at our wits end. Can anyone suggest anythng.
His vocabulary is good . He can remember words to all the songs he hears. He can give directions in the car to places he's been. In some ways he is so smart but in others he is very slow. He missed a lot of school with his mother evn though he went to prek k and kindergarden.
His dad lives in the home with us. He likes to play with him but has very little patience when it comes to other things. Please HELP
