Totally understand what you are going thru.My 2 1/2 year old son is much the same way.Napping for him is usually within a 3 hour interval where he may fall asleep anywhere between 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and if he doesn't get that nap...well let's just say the hulk has nothing on him! Bedtime is actually getting a little better for us. I do the usual bedtime routines and after about 3 weeks he is easier to put to sleep mind you its with a bottle, video tape and a prayer to the lord so I can finally get to bed. I realize I need to get him to sleep without a bottle soon but I'm just thakfull he can fall to sleep right now. You said your son acts up when its time to lay him down. Have you tried reading to him while he is lying in his bed. does he still use a bottle? I know it sounds harsh but there were a few nights where my son did not stay in his bed as well, so I calmly and with no voice walked him back to his bed, tucked him in, gave him a kiss on the cheek. and then left the room. I did this a few times the first night and within a few nights I think he caught on that I was not going to fight with him but that he should be in his bed. Try it maybe and see if the silent way will work with your little guy.hope it will help.
