 | As hard as it is, don't ever cry in front of him. For one, it gives him control, and two, it makes a child feel less safe and secure. If mommy cries/shows weakness, who I depend on to take care of me, then who can I trust to keep me safe? I have had the same problem with my three 1/2 year old son but the older he gets the better because we can start to reason with him and take things away that he enjoys when he misbehaves. My husband is a really good father and takes my son everywhere with him but he can also be really hard on him too, but my son is very strong-willed and needs this kind of discipline. Is you son's father a good disciplinarian and are you both "on the same page" as to the way you punish him. That is very important to a child to not get mixed messages from both parents. And not to get to personal, but, as I'm sure you know, your relationship with his father can make all the difference in the world as to his behavior.
