I have had my Merina IUD for about 1 1/2 months. I don't seem to have an issue with it. I had a copper IUD previously and didn't like it only for the fact that my flow was extremely heavy. The benefit to switching to the Merina was a much lighter flow. I had heard that a tubal is most effective right after giving birth. Women who wait a long period of time before having a tubal have a much higher failure rate than with an IUD. Therefore I decide to chose the IUD over a tubal.
