We don't want to take our 2 1/2 year old boy anywhere either. I'm thinking no one wants us to come over to their house. My little guy pushes and wrestles, and throws, and kicks. Yes, everything is a tantrum and an argument. I'm so embarassed. I hate the way people look at me. Like "cant you control your child". BJ is worse when he's tired, hungry, or feeling sick. Usually after a bad day I find out the next day he's sick, and no wonder he was acting up so much the day before. Then I feel guilty.

I just read another posting that made SO much sense. She said something to the effect of "there are probably lots of kids that act like ours but their parents dont take them out. They're just sitting at home." My boy is not a total monster all the time, just most of the time. He doesn't stop moving. He won't sit through a story. I have to chase him down and wrestle him into his car seat. If I have to take him with me someplace and he starts to run, tantrum, etc., food works well to keep him still for a few minutes. French fries. Little candies. I also heard that 2 - 3 year olds (especially boys) are extreme bundles of energy and need to expend that energy in physical activity. Which can be hard if you live where I do, it's freezing out there. Plus I'm not a real active person or into sports. But I'm going to have to force myself to bundle both of us up and take him to the park to run off some of that energy. Or we'll both go nuts. I know he's worse when he's tired or has been cooped up all day. A cranky boy is a tired boy. I wish I had a Discovery Zone in my basement. I wish I had a basement ... My daughter was not like this. She's 11 now. I don't know if it's just the gender, boys seem so much more active!!!
