middle of the night tantrums

My 2 year old wakes up in the night and doesnt want anyone to touch her. She crys and throws herself all over her crib. She is hurting herself by banging her head and body all over the crib.Is it possible for a 2 year old to have nightmares? If so what can I do to help my daughter?
