 | Hi there, I’m fairly new at these message boards, but I just wanted a little feedback on my situation. I posted a message about my daughter (in the wrong section [Milestones] by mistake) titled “LITTLE GIRL” as my family DR is freaking me out b/c my daughter gains a little, then loses and has been doing this since day 1. She is now 14 months old and as of yesterday only weighs 18lbs 14 oz. So, she’s gained 8 oz in 3 weeks. We went to a pediatrician last year about this same problem, but he said that my daughter is healthy and that he can’t foresee a real problem with her. Well, my dr. didn’t like that answer so now she’s sent us to a different pediatrician! This new one says THAT WE SHALL TRY TO HELP HER GROW BY INCREASING HER PROTEIN AND CALORIES, and if she doesn’t gain sufficient weight in 2 weeks that he’ll supplement her with pediasure!!!! HOW THE HECK DO YOU MAKE A BABY GROW????!!!! It sounds to me like he wants to fatten her up, but she’s already got beautiful pudgy little arms and legs, and a little tummy on her already!!! She also eats all the time when she’s awake! She’ll eat her supper then some of mine and dads as well!!! And she’s always a happy baby, and the only real time that she cranks is if we’re out and it’s past her nap time! She can’t walk on her own yet, so I got her an activity walker that she can push around the house, so she walks and crawls up a storm! She’s a busy little beaver during the day, always into everything. To me there’s nothing wrong with her other than she’s small. I’m only 5’6, and the tallest female for my side and my husband is only 5’8 and the tallest on his side. I just think that my daughter is small-boned. If she were undernourished she’d not be a happy camper like she is (at least that’s what I think—I am a first time mom tho, so what would I know right??!!). And to top it off this Dr wants me to get my daughter on whole milk. I did try her on whole, but I’ve been reading messages on these boards and decided not to push her since she didn’t seem to like it. I’ve got her on soy milk now and she seems to be taking it fine. (She is also still on formula—18 oz a day) AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGG!!! I’m just so frustrated!!! |
