I'm glad your son is going to visit with a therapist after all he has been through. Also, therapists aren't all the same. Some are right on the mark while others come up with conclusions that couldn't be further from the truth. My son has not experienced any trauma in his life but he did have quite serious behavior problems. We visit a resident psychiatrist (who also his therapist) at our local hospital. He was not the first person we visited but he helped us enormously. My son was diagnosed with a mood disorder and placed on medication. He inherited this from his father's side of the family. He's a much happier child and takes his schoolwork more seriously. His grades show it and his teachers notice that he is a much happier child.
