I have a 14 1/2-month old that I still sit with at night on the floor since his surgery at five weeks old. I couldn't lie him right down after a bottle, so he got used to me being there with him. Now when he gets very restless I say goodnite, lie him in his crib, and he cries a lot in the beginning, but each day it gets less and less. I don't let him cry for a long time. Usually after ten minutes he stops, he lies down and goes to sleep, some nights I have to lay with him, but that's OK because when I do it takes him only about ten minutes and he's asleep. It's tough in the beginning, but he sleeps through the night 90% of the time. Hope this helps.
