My pediatrician has told me that each child is an individual with differences from other kids. Some kids take to the toilet very easy. My daughter did, but my son has not. In other areas of childhood, he is the most normal, weird 6 year old boy. There has been so much talk and research about when training should take place. Then, you can go to the other side, and people tell you that it should be the childs decision. Now I am not condoning diapering at 10 or 15 years of age. But rather than freak yourself out and your kid, I think the best is letting up from all the pressure, and calmly take one step at a time. The child should know that the behaviour is not acceptable, and there will be punishments for messing up, such as no ice cream cones, no special treatment. But that you love your child with or without pooping in the toilet is the best advice anyone should heed. God Bless |
