My son was born in mid August and was told to hold him back a year before entering kindergarten. I was struggling with this decision so instead of sending him to a private school, I sent him to the public school to see how he did.(I would have put him back in K the next year in the private school) The first month he did struggle but quickly bounced back and did a great job after that. He finished the year off so good that there was no way she could hold him back. He may be the youngest but he is the biggest in the class and he is one of the best readers in the first grade now. This is one tough decision but one that has to be made with every precaution.
Good luck and it sounds if you made a great choice !!
