If he has had a tough life, therapy may be needed. Also, you need to be firm about this schoolwork. It is not quite uncommon for boys to hit a stage where they do not want to do schoolwork. This represents a turning point in the child's life. Either you are going to be firm and make sure he does his work, or he will fall into a pattern of not doing work that will last throughout school.

Many parents have to sit with their children each night and make sure they do their homework. You are not alone. Hang in there.
