It sounds like a cry for attention. Some kids need more attention. Try lavishing him with attention, interact with him as much as possible and see if there's improvement in a couple of weeks.

If not, maybe this daycare is not a good fit. Perhaps the ratio is too high. Is he taking naps there, and eating well?
