In my area children are dropped off at parties unattended around age 6. So perhaps that was just a misunderstanding. I think that you over-reacted a bit by calling the police. That seems quite extreme, and she gave you an extreme response. Did you really expect a polite response when she came to the door and was told that she could find her child at the police department? Apparently these girls are lacking in discipline, and attend some type of daycare or preschool when school ends. Why not have your child wait for you in a place where the van does not come. It must come to a certain spot at a certain time daily. Can't she simply wait 50 feet away? Or can you be waiting outside her classroom and completely eliminate this problem? I don't think you will eliminate exposure to undisciplined children by placing your child in a private school. Socio-economic status and manners do not always go hand-in-hand. Private schools also have rude and undesirable children in attendence. Just because parents have money does not mean they are responsible parents.
