I have to say that is quite an assesment from the counselers! I would also like to say that she is near that age of becoming a teenager soon and perhaps going through that is enough to make her mad without her realizing the severity of it and what it is causing for her family. Sometimes our stress as parents rubs off on our kids and they all too often feel the negative effects of that and behave in such ways that are not welcome. That could be her problem. Learning to manage our own stress is critical when raising children who are ADHD. I have a four year old son who is ADHD and I am a single mother, so I know that my life is stressful at different times and I also know that my son feeds off of that negative energy. I have to at times re-assert myself to effectivly parent this tornadic child.
What types of things is your child doing that are negative? What are her actions that upset you and others? You are more than welcome to email me at tjmace@uh.edu.
