Your child is normal. I am the extended daycare director and I tell you boys are strong willed and they do not listen most of the time but working with him will help. Try this at home have your son sit at the kitchen table and do an activity. This will give you an idea of how long his attention span is. If it is 30 seconds then keep doing an activity till he reaches 1 min. then 2 min. and so on. Soon he will be able to listen for 5 min. Ask him about his day what he did today. If he has a speech problem then everytime you hear him mention a word wrong or if you can understand then help him. Some daycares want perfect children good luck I say to them.
If you realize that maybe it is your son and he just does not want to listen that start a sticker chart for him. Everytime he does well reward him with a sticker that he can stick on his own chart he will love it. Especially a Spiderman sticker or The Hulk.

Take care
Tess
