Follow your motherly instincts. I'd tell the MIL that she is not ready to do a sleep over. She is not old enough. Leave it at that. If she pursues it, tell her that this has been attempted on 3 occasions and consistently resulted in hysterical behavior. Tell that you know your child, and your child is not ready. You will let her know when she is. I'd just put your foot down with your husband. His mother is involved, so he is not being objective.
