My child once had the same problem. He would poop in the toilet but run around my house in wet pants. One day he wanted to play outside. It was cold outside. It was October. I dressed him for the weather but made sure he was wearing regular underwear. Half hour later he came back in from the yard. He was yelling I'm cold! I'm wet! I said to him, " See what happens when you don't tell anyone that you have to potty." He got the message. I also let him play in the backyard a lot because I knew he wasn't going to pee outside. Too cold for that. It helped to establish the habit of peeing in the toilet not on his pants. He was toilet trained after that day.
