You are not going to stop a grandma from giving treats between meals. It is part of nature.
What if you were to explain that your son is not allowed to watch TV and that according to leading doctors and educators, televison is very harmful for young children? Sometimes grandparents are unaware that TV is bad for kids.

This child is certainly off with grandma even if he is watching Tv then in a daycare center. If you send him there you will slowly see the boy you once loved changing into a daycare kid. Have you ever noticed the differences between daycare kids and kids raised by parents or another family member? They are tremendous-both academic and behavioral-especially when school starts.

Your other option is sending your child to a good preschool. It will cost, but would be better than grandma or daycare. Some schools even offer financial assistance and most of the best schools prefer to give assistance to parents who have raised the children themselves. There your child would be able to learn to read and all the other things he would learn at home with you. The focus is on education not being a substitute parent. As a matter of fact, a lot of responsible mothers send their children to preschool even though they are not working. The important thing is to have a parent or other family member pick up the child and spend time with the child after school.

You have probably sacrificed tremendously to be able to do the right thing and stay with your child and raise him yourself. You deserve recognition for that. I wish more moms could be just like you.
