I feel for you. My son is 4 and I am having problems with him. Unlike your son, my son has graduated to hitting me and his brother. Even a psychiatrist told me that i need to spank him, but that doesn't feel right to me.
What message am i sending him if I punish him for hitting me, by hitting him??
I have used the Dr. Spock "Rule of 3", also recommended by the psychiatrist. Check it out. It is frustrating and embarrasing. The "Safe Zone" sounds like a good idea and I may try it myself. I read a book (Lookout, She's Gonna Blow) by Julie Barnhill, and it's very helpful in dealing with kids who like to push buttons. I guess that would mean all kids and some adults. Good luck and remember, God wouldn't give you anything more than you could handle.
